The USVI are an insular area of the United States. The islands are\u00a0geographically part of the Virgin Islands archipelago and are located in the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"center\">There are four larger populated islands: St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas, and Water Island.\u00a0 The total land area of the territory is 346.36 km\u00b2 (133.73 sq mi). As of the 2000 census the population was 108,612. Three of the main islands have nicknames often used by locals: &#8220;Twin City&#8221; (St. Croix), &#8220;Rock City&#8221; (St. Thomas), &#8220;Love City&#8221; (St. John), and &#8220;Small City&#8221; (Water Island).
